Sony Bravia XBR-65HX929 Review

The Sony Bravia XBR-65HX929 is an HD LED television that is shutter glasses-compatible. It is in the same series as the Bravia XBR-46HX929 and the 55HX929; the only difference is the screen size. It has a minimalistic bezel and a front made of Corning Gorilla Glass, and a high-contrast display that provides fast motion with little blur.

65HX929 The XBR-65HX929 has full-array dimming backlighting, and it is just over one inch in depth. The set's picture quality is fantastic; black levels are rich and colors are well-defined. In 3D mode, some fast images were blurred, but the blur was absent in 3D mode. The HX929 has 1080p resolution in 3D mode, and it is comparable with most other models in its class.

In the fall of 2010, Sony debuted its GT1 Internet-connected TV series; all sets came with Google Chrome installed. The HX929 lacks the Google TV app, but it does have the Bravia Internet Video function, along with HuluPlus, Amazon VonD, Pandora, YouTube, and Crackly. Strangely, it lacks a Netflix app. The set comes with MotionFlow XR960, which takes advantage of the local-dimming LED backlight.

The HX929 comes with an XReality Pro video engine; its two chips improve and upconvert low-res video from online sources. It further optimizes HD content, along with that from other sources. The Xreality Pro engine compares signals with preset ideals to offer you detailed and vivid pictures. The set comes with a Skype feature, with 720p HD video, and the Media Remote control app allows control via Android or Apple devices.

The HX929 is among Sony's highest-end LCD/LED 3D television offerings for this year. If you want this particular set, be ready to take a hit in the wallet- but its features are well worth the price.
